Why should I donate my vehicle to Habitat for Humanity?

  • All net proceeds from the sale of your vehicle support Habitat for Humanity and local families in our communities.
  • Your vehicle may qualify for a tax deduction.
  • It’s fast and easy. With just a call or a click, you can get the process started.
  • It’s good for the environment. Recycling cars keep a huge amount of steel out of landfills, saves energy, and reduces carbon emissions.

Where does the money from my vehicle go?

Between 78% and 86% of the sales revenue go to Habitat for Humanity, most of which comes to the affiliate where the vehicle was donated. For example, if your vehicle is donated in Island County, the proceeds come to our affiliate. If you have a friend or family member who lives in a different area but wants their donation to come to us, they can indicate that when they call to make their donation.

What happens to donated cars?

About half of the cars donated are sold to licensed dealers at wholesale auctions and are reused for transporation. The other half typically go to auto salvage yards. Vehicles that can be recycled are crushed, shredded, and recycled into steel.

Who will be picking up my vehicle?

Advanced Remarketing Services is our authorized agent and attorney-in-fact for the purpose of selling vehicles and transferring titles. They handle the title transfer, towing and reporting of all vehicle donations.
